Original La Marzocco copper washer suitable for a wide range of La Marzocco espresso machines.
Copper crush washers are used where two hard steel or brass fittings need to make a waterproof seal at high pressures. All fittings which thread into the stainless steel of the boiler for example. The copper washer is annealed during it’s production making it extremely malleable. This property allows it to accommodate the tiniest imperfection in the mating surfaces. In the automotive industry it is used to seal fuel injectors running at many hundreds of bar. It is very inexpensive but should be changed every time it is disturbed. You will most often find them under the safety valve or the coffee boiler bleed screws.
Failure mode
Leaking around the crush washer. Replace it.
Testing
Look for leaks.
