We are excited to announce that we are now a Carbon Neutral Plus Organisation! Currently, only about 10% of companies in the UK are carbon neutral and so we are very proud to be one of them. 

Carbon Neutral certification means that we have achieved net-zero CO₂ emissions by balancing our carbon emissions with carbon removal. In 2019, our carbon footprint equated to 15 tonnes. To achieve neutrality, we have invested in a tree project which plants trees in the schools and other biodiversity sites in the South East of the UK. The tree project also works to reduce deforestation in the Amazon.

Planting is a great way to help sequester carbon emissions; through photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and wood.

For every tree that is planted, a tonne of carbon will also be saved in the Brazilian Amazon via the VCS avoided deforestation programme. With our chosen project, we have offset carbon by planting and protecting forests and biodiversity in 2 continents.

We have made huge changes within our business since 2018. Throughout our building, we have improved recycling and have switched to timed LED lighting. In our warehouse, we have switched to chemical free, sugar-gummed paper tape and 100% recyclable paper packing material.

Our Environmental Commitment is an important part of our business and we are continually looking at ways to improve our green credentials.

In 2020, we are making plans to decrease the amount of plastic we use throughout the business. We are currently researching biodegrable parts bags to reduce plastic use even further. We have recenetly added a hybrid vehicle to our fleet and we have commited to only purchasing hybrid or electric vehicles from now on. We are working with the local council to add an electric charging point to encourage our employees to consider hybrid/electric cars in the future.
